United Modi is a registered public limited company established under the Companies Act 2063 of Nepal, with an objective of promoting hydropower in Nepal through private investment. It was registered as a private limited company on 5th Mangsir 2064 (21st Nov, 2007) at the Office of the Company Registrar, Nepal Government.
The project is a run-of-river scheme on the Modi Khola in Parbat district. Construction began in early 2010 and was completed in August 2012. The project started generating electricity in September 2012 with a connection to the National Grid, and commercial operation began in November 2012. Since then, the project has added 61.01 GWh of energy annually to the national power network.
United Modi Hydropower Ltd. was converted into a public limited company on 28th Chaitra 2070 (11th Apr, 2014). The central office is located at Kamaladi, Kathmandu, and the site office is located at Kushma, Parbat. The company is promoted by well-known builders and hydropower entrepreneurs with long experience in the sector, including local people from the project areas.
